What is a great surfboard to begin with?

shortboard or longboard. I just need to know what type of surfboards beginners usually use and are reccomended.

long boards are wider and of course longer! Easier to stand up and keep your ballance on!! When I started out, I bought an 8 foot russo funboard! It was the best board I have ever owned! It wasnt so long that it was getting in my way and it wasnt so short that it was hard to get up on!! Just perfect!! Try and 8 foot to 9 foot!!

a long board becuase it gives you more stability and balance. or you could get soft boards theyre great for any kind of surfers. just go to intsoftboards.com

definitely a longboard.

they are more expensive, but they are much more stable for a new surfer

they make catching waves super easy.

i would have started on one too, if i didn't get my shortboard for free.

a longboard is easier to learn on.  however, if you are not into that longboard thing, you can get a shorter hybrid fish.  still floaty, easy to catch waves, and very maneuverable
