Question:

What is a greater risk to public health - smokers or car exhaust?

I do know I could survive in a garage full of cigarette smoke a h**l of a lot longer than a one full of exhaust.

Is it worse for your lungs to be on a busy highway, or walking through a mall with smokers puffing away?

I've had a couple doctor clients tell me that the smoker issue is really a 'smoke screen' issue in the big scheme of things.

Is this true?

  1. there is so much pollution in the phoenix area that i smoke cigarettes in self defense. seriously.

  2. Here in Toronto we have smog days quite regularly, they advise you not to drive, they have never suggested that you not smoke. I smoke and find cigarettes taste terrible when I smoke them outside on a summer day.

  3. IMO, they are both equally bad for you and your lungs.  I will disagree with your doctor clients, from personal experience, I can say cigarette smoke is very damaging.. even if you are not the one smoking.
