a card that allows you to work here for 10 yrs, different from an H1B, which allows you to work 5 yrs.

It's for people who immigrate to the US, Like for me, i'm Korean, and my family and i came here, if we want to stay here for a lifetime or so, we need a green card to become a citizen, and to travel out to other countries.
