Question:

What is a grouse?

I caught a European cooking show on the tv half way thru and they were demonstrating "stuffed grouse". I am not quite sure what a grouse even is or what it tastes like! The finished dish looked very good. Any details or favorite recipes? Is this a European dish? If so, from which country is it?

  2. It is in the quail and partridge family and are also called ptarmigans--small game bird often caught with nets and snares.  They are field or forest dwelling.

    It builds nests on the ground, does not migrate, and has feathered legs and feet.  Very rotund and fatty--tastes somewhat like a cornish hen and is closely related to the domestic chicken.  Here's a pic:
