  1. when it rains so hard that it causes a lot of water run off and flash floods. we call it a gully washer.


  2. A term used to describe a really big rainstorm...fills the ditches [gully/gullies] and the water washes them out fast.  Another rainstorm term?  Toad-strangler!

  6. A gully washer does have to do with the weather. It is a very heavy down pour of rain in a short time that tends to wash down hillsides and form gullies. It can cause flash flooding and road washouts.
