Is there a harmless way? You'd need to use a sterilised needle and it's best to numb it with ice first, but its better to go to a professional because there's a chance you could hit blood capillaries and shizz :)

There is never a harmless way to pierce YOURSELF.  The job industry did not create professional piercers and tattoo artists just for the h**l of it...piercings are meant to be taken seriously and professional piercings are the SAFEST route to go.  If you were to pierce yourself the wrong way, you could pop a blood vessel, cause infection, and even get extremely ill.  Some people might be chill with it and say, "Aw, it's nothing...I pierced my own lip and I didn't die" but that's just from pure luck, I assure you.

And, if your parents are against piercings and that's why you want to pierce yourself, just wait until you're of-age to get a piercing.  I've wanted my lip pierced since I was 13 and next Friday I will finally be 18 and that's the first thing I'm going to do.  It's a fun and exciting thing to wait for, and, plus, you don't have to worry about injuring yourself or lying to your parents.  You have a clear head.  

Plus, depending on how young you are, you might get older and realize your piercing idea was a stupid decision, or you want to get a job where piercings are unacceptable.

Just consider your health, your trust and your future when making your decision.

I've pierced my ears myself a couple of times, it worked out fine but I still wouldn't recommend it. Go to a professional, it's worth the extra cost.

By going to a professional piercer.  There's to much chance of infection at home and not doing the piercing straight.  And that also depends on where you want to pierce.  Your ears are relatively simple to do alone.
