What is a hemorrhoid? ?

My friend is afraid she'll get them while she is pregnant. I never did so I don't know what to tell her. What causes them? Why do people get them? and gross.. what do they look like?

It's vein in the r****m that gets inflammed and produces pain, itching, and occasional bleeding; it's like a varicose vein in the a**s. Constipation is usually the main culprit. It's quite common in pregnancy. Treatment includes anti-inflammatory creams and suppositories as well as sitz baths. Prevention is the best approach. Avoid constipation and eat a lot of fiber. If there is bleeding we recommend a rectal surgeon.

Some women do get them following pregnancy, due to "forcing" to have a bowel movement. They are bubble like blisters that appear in your r****m area and can cause an itch and bleeding. They can be easily controled by using a hemroid cream, applied daily.
