What is a hen/stag party?

It's what we call a Batchelorette/Bachelor party here in the US.  they use that term in the UK.

A hen party is women only. Now whether it is something simple or something more male stripper, that is up to them

For some reason, a stag party is men doing s*x things, mostly watching dirty movies

A stag party is with men only.  Often it's thrown for a guy who's getting married; his male friends get together and have one last night of "single-guy" stuff before he becomes a boring respectable married man.

A hen party is the same, only with only women.

Occasionally, there's a stripper of the opposite s*x brought in to perform.  Woohoo!

A hen party is whenever a bunch of women get together.  It is so named because the noise of women talking together is said to resemble the "cackling" of hens. (Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger!)

A stag party is a party, usually all male participants, that is given to a potential groom just before his wedding.  The "traditional" stag party involves a lot of drinking and sometimes some bawdy entertainment (strippers, dirty movies, etc.)
