A hicky is a red mark that is caused by applying suction to an area of skin. What happens is that the superficial capillaries in the skin burst and there is slight bleeding under the skin. After a few days, it will look like a bruise. If it especially deep, it can make a whole rainbow of interesting colors (personal experience...).
