  1. Hold - Reliever hold the lead intact

Save - Closer comes in and finishes the game leaving the lead intact.

  2. A hold is where a relief pitcher enters the game with no more than a three run lead with three outs in inning, and the pitcher records at least one out without giving up the lead!!!

A save is where a closer enters the game with his team up by no more than three runs and doesn't give up the lead!!

A home run is where a player hits the ball out of the ball park!!

    JUST JOKING!!!

  3. A hold is when the relief pitcher or set up comes in and keeps the team that he is pitching for winning. And a save is when then closer comes and doesn't allow the team to tie or get more runs than them, but if they are up by 3 or more it is a hold.

  4. The "Hold":

The hold is not an official statistic, but it was created as a way to credit middle relief pitchers for a job well done. Starting pitchers get wins, and closers -- the relief pitchers who come in at the end of the game -- get saves, but the guys who pitch in between the two rarely get either statistic. So what's the most important thing one of these middle relievers can do? "Hold" a lead. If a reliever comes into a game to protect a lead, gets at least one out and leaves without giving up that lead, he gets a hold. But you can't get a save and a hold at the same time.

    Saves:

Rule 10.20 in the Official Rule Book states:

Credit a pitcher with a save when he meets all three of the following conditions:

    (1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; and

    (2) He is not the winning pitcher; and

    (3) He qualifies under one of the following conditions:

    - (a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning; or

    - (b) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batsmen he faces; or

    - (c) He pitches effectively for at least three innings. No more than one save may be credited in each game.

  5. thats right a hold is when your relief pitcher comes in and holds the score as is and a save is when he finishes the game without letting the other team get ahead.

  6. A hold is when you

    1) come in after the pitcher secures a win (min. 5 complete innings with the lead)

    2) pitch the remaining innings without letting up a run. (unless it is a save situation)

Save situation: Runners in scoring position that represent the tying or game winning run.

Example 1: Starter pitches 7 shut out innings and has a 5-0 lead. Reliever pitches 2 shut out innings and finishes the game.

Final:   the starter gets a win, relief pitcher gets a hold

Example 2: Starter pitches 7 shut out innings and has a 2-0

lead. Reliever pitches 2 shut out and innings and finishes the game.

Final: starter = win..... reliever = save.

  7. a save is when the team who is winnig is winnig by three runs or less and they dont give up as many runs as they do and thats a save

  8. A hold is when a pitcher comes in to pitch the 8th and does not give up a run. A save is when a pitcher comes in the 9th leading by three or fewer runs and ends the game, or when a pitcher comes in the seventh inning and pitces till the game has ended.
