  1. It's a piece of Lord Voldemort that he spread around the world so he can gain immortality.

  2. did you read the first 6 books? If not you should read them first. *obviously* Slughorns Memory in the 6th book should explain it tho.

  3. its an object where u can put a part of the soul, Voldemort did it, It needs very dark magic to do, and just people so desperate would do it.

  4. It's an object that a wizard infuses part of his soul into, so he can't die.  Doing this causes the wizard to permanently mame his soul, making him live less of a life.  Voldemort created 7 horcruxes to insure his survival. Harry spends the 7th book trying to track them all down to kill Voldemort.

  5. A Horcrux is an item that a Dark Wizard or Witch uses to store a fragment of their soul in order to attain immortality - the wizard's body can be destroyed, but as long as the Horcrux still surivives, they can't be permanently killed.

If you haven't read the sixth book, you should go back and read it because it has a lot of information about Horcuxes.  Without that background, you may find Book 7 hard to follow because Horcruxes are a MAJOR part of the plot.

Alternatively, you can read the article about Horcruxes in the Harry Potter Wiki (link below).  It's thorough and detailed and has everything you need to know.

  6. It is an object (or being) a dark wizard puts part of his soul. That way if a part of him is killed, if he still has a horcrux, the wizard will survive. In this case, Voldemort divided his soul into seven things and that is why the only way Harry can defeat him is to destroy all seven horcruxes. As soon as he does that, Voldemort is able to die.

By the way (to the person above me) goblin made objects don't necessarily destroy horcruxes. The only reason Gryffindor's sword was able to is because it had basilisk venom on it because Harry used the sword to defeat the basilisk in The Chamber of Secrets.

And as for the people who spoiled it by telling her each horcrux....WAY TO GO!

  7. its where voldemort put a part of his soul into

remember the diary in book 2? well that would be one example.

  8. It's dark magic.

Once you make a Horcrux from your soul, your soul is dived ed in two (if you had only one horcrux yet) but, you get more evil as you keep on doing it. That object starts to have it's own live, in other words, it has a piece of you.

If you make one, the only away to make you mortal is to destroy the object where the peice of your soul is with something powerfully such as basilisk venon, it's rare and there's only  a very rare cure for it (phoenix tears)

But as someone destroy all the horcruxes a wizard has made, that wizard must perpare himself because he gets mortal again.

  9. Good question.

In Harry Potter, a Horcrux is the word used for an object in which a person has concealed part of their soul.

You split your soul and hide part of it in an object outside the body. Then if ones body is attacked or destroyed, one cannot die, for part of the soul remains earthbound and undamaged. But of course, existence in such form... few would want it, very few. Death would be more preferable.

I hope I am making sense, for it is quite a complicated matter.

This is very evil magic, because the soul is supposed to remain intact and whole. Splitting it is an act of violation, it is against nature.

How you split your soul is by doing an act of evil-- the supreme act of evil. By committing murder. Killing rips the soul apart. The wizard intent upon creating a Horcrux would use the damage to his advantage: He would encase the torn portion into an object.

Tom Marvolo Riddle (aka Lord Voldemort) made 6 horcruxes:

    1. The Diary- in Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets.. Tom Riddle used a diary to bring himself back to life and unleash the monster (the basilisk) and rid hogwarts of all who were unworthy to learn magic, mudbloods. The diary was destroyed by Harry who used the venomous fang from the basilisk to stab the diary after which Voldemort disappeared.

    2. Marvolo's ring- The ring had been in the Gaunt family (Voldemort's mother's maiden name) for centuries. A proud pure-blooded family all the way. After Voldemort went to find his Grandfather, Marvolo Gaunt, (who was dead by the time he got there) he instead found his uncle, Morfin Gaunt. Morfin told him about the muggle who lived across the valley whom Voldemort's mother had ran off with. Voldemort murdered the muggle man who had abandoned his witch mother, thus killing the last of the unworthy Riddle line and revenging himself upon the father who never wanted him. Then came back knocked his uncle unconscious and stole the ancient ring he wore. Dumbledore destroyed the ring.

    3. Salazar Slytherin’s golden locket- after finishing his seventh year at hogwarts, Voldemort took a job at Borgin and Burkes (a shop in Diagon Alley that specializes in ancient unique artifacts with unusual and powerful properties). Voldemort was sent to persuade people to part from their treasures and was unusually gifted at doing this. At one appointment, he discovered two artifacts that interested him very much. In the possession of Hepzibah Smith, Voldemort murdered her to get her two lovely treasures…. one of which was Salazar Slytherin’s golden locket.

    4. Helga Hufflepuff’s cup- the second treasure that Hepzibah Smith owned and was killed for by Lord Voldemort. Voldemort had a strong pull to objects that were historically connected to hogwarts. For being an orphan, like harry, hogwarts was his home.

    5. Rowena Ravenclaw’s lost diadem- a tiara that bestows wisdom upon the person who wears it. Stolen by her daughter, Helena Ravenclaw (who is the ghost of the Ravenclaw house) Voldemort convinced Helena to tell him where she hid the tiara from her mother. When he stole it… he used it as a horcrux

    6. Nagini: the snake- Voldemort’s huge snake, sometimes goes on specific missions for him (like attacking Mr. Weasley when he was guarding the prophecy in the Ministry of Magic… 5th book) but mostly stays close to her master.

    7. ummmmm…. I don’t want to give that one away. You’ll find out ^.^

Hope this helps you. Have a peachy day!

    Love and Blessings,

    Lord’s Child

  10. Its an object that a really powerful wizard split his/her soul onto. This makes them immortal. Lord voldemort created seven horcruxes, I think.

  11. a horcrux is basically an item that Lord Voldemort put a part of his soul into

  12. Um, I am SURE they explain it.  Keep reading for goodness' sakes!

  13. a horcrux in the books, is an important object to voldemort, or something that changed him or meant something to him in some way, that he chose to put part of his soul in. there are 7 horcruxes in the book and in order to kill Lord Voldemort, those horcruxes all must be destroyed. Without destroying them he technically cant die.

  14. A horcrux is a object that contains a piece of someone's soul.  Voldemort has 7

    -Tom Riddle's diary

    -Marvolo's ring

    -Nagini

    -Hufflepuff's bowl

    -Ravenclaw's crown

    -Slythern's locket

    -Harry himself

  15. like a neckless and they need to destroy all of em with the sword

  16. it is a material item that Lord Voldemort (ha I can say his name) put a peice of his soul into so that when he dies he will have a peice of his sole so he can live, partly.

Harry has to destroy all of them so he can't stay living.

  17. A horcrux is a part of a persons soul that has been sealed inside an object. It requires murdering another person to split your soul. In Voldemort's case, he hunted down very valuable object to put peices of his sould into. Then he hid them in somewhere valuable in his past.

    The seven horcruxes were;

    Nagini-hid by voldemort's side

    Hufflepuff's cup-hid in Bellatrix's vault at gringotts

Ravenclaws crown-his in the room of requirement

Riddle's diary-kept with lucius malfoy until harry's second year of school, in which it was destroyed.

Morvolos ring(Morvolo was Voldemort's great grandfather)- hid in the gaunt shack

Salazar stytherin's locket-his in a cave where voldemort killed two of his fellow orphans.

And by accident Harry himself. This happened when Voldemort tried to kill harry, he actually ended up putting a part of his sould into Harry.

So as long as someone has a horcrux, they can return to the world of the living after they die. For example, Voldemort HAD Seven horcruxes, so he WOULD HAVE been able to return to the world of the living seven times, he would have not died until the seventh horcrux was destroyed. It can only be destroyed when a very powerful magical object tries to destroy it. Such as Goblin made objects or Basilisk venom.

    Hope i helped:)
