I want to go to school to learn more about healing, training, and taking care of horses. I would like to make a career out of this. Does anyone know of anything in that area or what I would have to major in?

Thank you!

  1. equine veterinarian

  2. Veterinarian is an animal doctor.

You can major in anything you want...there are even people who major in things like English accepted into vet school!

However, most people who plan on becoming a veterinarian major in animal sciences, biology, or chemistry.  After you complete a 4 year bachelors degree, you can apply to vet school.

However, be aware that vet school is very hard to get into...some say its harder than medical school!

Make sure as soon as you can (usually 15 or 16 years old) you start working and/or volunteering at a vet clinic, as most schools won't accept you without at least 3-4 years experience, that's how competitive they are.  Also make sure you volunteer as much as possible, especially working with animals, like at a shelter.  And job shadow a vet if you haven't already...all this will help you get into vet school, and will show you what the job's really like so you can decide if you want to do it or not.

  3. The WORDS you are looking for are "veterinarian" and "veterinary science."

  4. An equine veterinarian.

  5. Join a veterinarian track that leads to work on farm animals, like cows and horses.

  6. An animal doctor is called a veterinarian.  You can check with your guidance counselor about what you would have to major in.
