  1. a period of time in which 90%+ of the land is covered by ice or snow.... last one ended 10,000+ yrs ago... thats when all the mammoths, mastodons, and saber tooths lived...

they can last for 10,000-1,000,000 yrs depending on the climate change rate...

  2. An Ice Age is where  the Earth globally cools down and everything is iced and has snow and it is a long period of time, and it results in large amounts of Ice. It could be possible for Earth to someday have another Ice age. The Earth's temperature has changed through out the geological history of this Earth.

  3. a period of time usually 1000000 years where everything is frozen over and the wont be another one unless the super volcano under yellow stone national park  blows

  4. An ice age occurs when more snow/ice falls or forms in a year than is melted. So if all af last winters' snow or ice does not melt by the time next winters' snow falls or ice forms in a region then you have the beginning of an ice age

  5. An ice age is when there are ice sheets in the northern and southern hemispheres; by this definition we are still in an ice age (because the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets still exist).

People confuse "ice age" and "glacials".  Glacials are the colder periods during ice ages, when glaciers expand over the continents.  The last glacial period ended about 11,000 years ago.  There will be another one, maybe in 5,000 years, maybe in 17,000 years.
