What is a klik "or click or klick" in the army?

I've heard people in movies or army video games say "The extraction is about 10 kliks *or clicks or klicks* to the east or your location. What is a klik?

  2. it stands for "K" short for Kilo...Short for Kilometer...(1000 meters)...Military uses meteric on there maps vs. US miles/Yards...etc..

  3. Klick = One Kilometer or about a third of a mile

  4. a kilometre - it's also not an expression restricted to use in the armed forces... my dad uses it and he was never in the army.

    Military maps I've come across use both Metric and American Standard. Metric is used for distance while American Standard is used for elevation.
