What is a lacteal? Does it has anything to do with food absorption?

  1. the lacteal is an extension that protrudes out of the lymph vessilcles in the villi!

    yes it has very much to do with food absorbtion!!

    the lacteal absorbs the digested fatty acids and glycerol into the lymphatic system!!

    whereas there is a capillary network around the lacteal which absorbs the glucose from the small intestine!

    do see the LS of the villus to get a better idea!
