  1. A space in a ship between decks used as a storeroom.


  2. This is simply the French word for storage compartment, which came in to use in sailboats many years ago.  In the early 1990's some people tried to change it to U.S. hatch, but it didn't catch on.

  3. On yachts what i know as the lazerette is the aft storage area below the main deck. Normally accessible through a hatch in the  main deck. Some boats have doors right on the aft that opens up to the garage which would also be below main deck and so this is referred to as the garage or the lazerette.
