  1. The legal requirement is by age six. Although it does vary from state to state. I am a mother of three, one of which I sent to school early and I can say it is better to wait until they are a little older. Although my daughter did well academically, she was always younger than the other kids. This didn't bother her to much until high school. Although socially and emotionally I always wondered if I did the right thing. But, I can say that I will not do the same with my son. Who is now three with a Sept birthday. I think there is a lot they can learn at home as well. So I think you would be wise not to send them early. It is up to you though. You know best. Pretty much it is up to the discretion of the parent.

  2. Actually, it's a common misconception that kindergarten is required. It's not, in most states in the US. In fact, if you've got the time and inclination to homeschool during that kindergarten year, your child can enter first grade ahead of his/her peers. It depends on your time constraints and your ability to (patiently) work with your child on academic subjects at their developmentally appropriate level.

I believe all schools are required to have a kindergarten program, but attendance is not mandatory. According to the ECS, "Fourteen states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands require students to attend kindergarten. Of those states and territories, only Tennessee does not allow exemptions from kindergarten attendance". So if you don't WANT your child to attend kindergarten (because you think s/he's not ready, because you want to teacher him/her, etc.), unless you live in Tennessee, there are ways around it.

  3. depending on your state, but there is no requirement that they  attend public schools, there are private schools

and home schooling.Normally pre-school is four years of age

  4. In Tennessee, preschool isn't required but it is highly recommend. For preschool, the ages admitted is 3 to 5 years. Kindergarten it is five years old.

  5. 3 to go to preschool

5 or 6 to go to kindergarten

  6. Depends on where you live, you should look at www.hslda.org to find the mandatory age of education in your state. Keep in mind that every state in the country has alternatives, so that you could choose to homeschool, or even send them to school a year later than everyone else.

  7. Preschool is not required, but in today's educational environment I would very much recommend it so that your child is not left behind.

Children must be registered to start school by the September of the school year when they will turn five.  If they have a May, June July birthday then they should attend kindergarten that September. To be sure check eith your local school board.

  8. I don't think children are required by law to go to preschool. I know for a fact they aren't here. Children ARE however, required to attend kindergarten. Your child should be in school by the age of 5.
