I was just wondering how much toothpaste it would take to be considered a lethal amount. It contains fluorine which is toxic and so an amount must be deadly. just curious

  1. It depends on what kind of toothpaste You referring to, because it is necessary to know what ingredients or chemical compounds are used in it. How it effects a consumer. That's what a pharmacologist will tell You. Otherwise, it's a much better idea to ask your dentist or at least ask this question in the dentistry section of answers.yahoo.com.

Don't be surprised if someone told You about toothpaste products with anti-freeze in them !

    Good Luck !

  2. 25mg if you take more than it you die

  3. First of all, what is in toothpaste is not the extremely chemically active gas fluorine, but the very stable salts that we call fluorides. Toothpastes have variously used sodium fluoride, stannous fluoride, and a few more complex compounds.

Since fluorides were introduced to toothpaste, child dental cavities have plummeted.

If you tried to ingest sufficient toothpaste to suffer toxic effects, you would die of bloating long before. (Note that fluoride-bearing toothpastes have been on the market for at least 40 years and no one has suffered ill effects yet.)
