What is a light weight material with close properties to aluminum?

I am trying to make a light weight but sturdy frame for an electric vehicle.

If you want it to be sturdy, maybe try an aluminum alloy.. anything else would probably be too expensive.

for a tubular frame chassis the only viable option in terms of cost would be mild steel.

If cost is no factor then carbon fibre would be better.

if you want to reduce the weight, then make sure it has a low centre of gravity.

If you are designing the vehicle make sure you have the correct tools to do so - Finite element analysis.
