  1. they can even touch you on the shoulder

  2. Touching in a way that might be perceived as sexual, such as deliberately or repeatedly touching in private areas.

Suggesting that a better grade might be forthcoming if she engages in sexual activity with him.

Creating a sexually uncomfortable environment, which may include:

-comments about her, or other women's, physical endowments

    -excessive compliments on appearance

    -sexual jokes

-comments about his own, or the student's, s*x life

It is usually not a good idea for a male teacher to spend a lot of time alone with a female student.

It is usually not a good idea for a male teacher to spend time with a female student behind closed or locked doors

It is usually not a good idea for a male teacher to spend time off campus with a female student if other students are not included

It is a poor idea for a male teacher to engage in personal conversations, either in person, by phone, by email, by text message, etc., with a female student.

It is usually not a good idea for a male teacher to spend time with a female student doing anything which involves the removal of clothing from either individual (having her over to his house to swim, for example).

  3. They can't do anything more than what a normal friend would do.  That may even include touching.  (shaking hand's ok)

  4. They can't do anything to any student, male or female, that would demonstrate one of the following things:

    1)  Immoral or unprofessional conduct

    2)  Dishonesty

    3)  Unfitness or service

    4)  Physical or mental disability that severely detracts from their ability to teach content

    5)  Violation of district policy or state/federal law

    6)  Sexual harassment

    7)  Alcoholism or drug abuse

Teachers are pretty much free to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't violate the above and as long as it pertains to learning and the teaching of content material.  Of course, they can never touch a student in any way....which I think is what you're getting at.  If a teacher shakes your hand, and you don't want them doing even that, tell the teacher that you don't want him/her to do that.  They won't get fired or in trouble if you tell them that...the first time.
