  1. My guess would be your teacher is confusing the expression "long run" with "long range."  It would be reasonable to consider an airplane that has been in use for a longer than usual time period a "long-run aircraft," but I can find no reference to that as official terminology in any military aviation publications.

Government and military officials frequently discuss "long-run" and "short run" expenses in connection with acquiring military hardware, but I have never seen the term associated with any particular airplane.

On the other hand, "long range bomber" is a commonly used term, and generally refers to a bomber type aircraft with an operating range of 3,000 miles or more.

Try an internet search on "long range bomber."  You might also try one on "long-run bomber" just to read the latest on fishing lures.

You might also ask your teacher to see if he/she is asking about something I don't know about.

    Good luck!

  2. the longest time that a bomber has been in service is still the B-52. it has been in service for over 50 years and is scheduled to continue till 2018. hope this helps

  3. It's probly the B-52, which is scheduled to contininue through 2040, not 2018. It will be the longest running bomber in aviation history when it is retired.

  4. The B-52 and the Russan Bear are long run bombers. Long run means that from the first production to the last flight scheduled. There is an other term that they may have meant is long range. Long range bombers are ones that can cover a distance to target nad back un-refueled. again the B-52 is in that group along with the Russain Bear, B-1B and B-2
