  1. a folder with rings inside that hold paper..

  2. 3 ring binder that you can clip loose hole-punched paper into

  3. It's a thing for holding paper, with three rings. It holds "loose-leaf" paper.

It has nothing to do with biology or botany except that the paper was made from trees.

  4. A loose leaf binder is a two or three metal ring folder that will hold your stray hole-punched papers. "Loose leaf" is just another term for lined paper that isn't gathered together like a notebook is.

A loose-leaf binder is a notebook with 3 (split) rings that open and shut by the operation of a small lever or actuator at one end of the metal insert that contains the 3 metal rings.  3-hole notebook paper is held in place by the rings.

Or...a loose-leaf binder could be some sort of natural adhesive or coagulant that glues together loose/fallen leaves. lol
