Market economy means that purchase decisions made by purchasers and sellers so equilibrium price and quantity determined by demand and supply.

A system where goods and its prices are determined by free market, that is, consumers and producers. Because of that there's no one who's really in charge of the market, every single person plays a role in it, it works like a great engine with many little cogs. That's why it's hard to exactly predict economic movement, because a market economy depends on many factos.

But to be more precise, since in a really •free• market (which economists call a •laissez-faire• system) there should be no government meddling, there's no single free market economy in the world, USA, Germany, Japan, France they all use a mixed market system.
