I was told at school that a marrow was (scientificly) a fruit as it grows from a flower and has it's seeds inside.

So why do some people say it's a vegatable?

  1. Because in cooking, it's used and treated as a vegetable, but scientifically it IS fruit.

  2. Botanically it is a fruit, but ,like similar fruits, such as pumpkin, it is used as a vegetable because of it's taste and the need to cook it before eating.
