  1. mean is average number to find out mean you have to use

    sum of the numbers/total numbers

  2. Add all the numbers together and then divide it by amount of numbers added together.

  3. It's the number that makes fun of and bullies all the other numbers around. :(

Hehe but in all seriousness, it is the average number.

  4. the average number

take the sum of the numbers and the divide the amount of numbers to get the mean or average

  5. 5,15,6

To find the mean, add 5+15+6=26 and divide 26 by 3

    mean=26/3 = 8.666

  6. mean = total sum / total number

    mean of 2,5,7,8 is[ 2+5+7+8] / 4=5.5

  7. The mode is something you will use in statistics, and it means "the number that appears most often" in a statistical report. I had trouble remembering the difference between mean, median and mode, too. Here is the little trick that I used.

Mean = Average - It's the only word here with an a in the beginning.

Median = The number in the middle - This word is the only one that has an i in it, and so does the word "middle".

Mode = is the number that appears most Often - this word, mode, has an O in it, just like Often - none of the others have an o in them.

This will help you if you remember it. It should not be hard to remember. All you have to do is look at the word and remember what it means when you see that one particular letter in it.

  8. Mean is the average. So if you have 1,2,3,4, you add them up and divide by four(cuz there are 4 #'s) and you get your mean. Same thing if you had 12,20,26,30,32. you add all of them then divide by 5 because there are 5 #'s

  9. Mean is the average.  Add all of the numbers, and divide by the number of entries (numbers that you added together) (i.e., 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 - the mean is (2+4+6+8+10)/5 = 6).

Median is the number appearing right in the middle, if all of the numbers were lined up on a number line (i.e., 2, 3, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 - the median is 5).

    Mode is the number which appears most-frequently in a group of numbers (i.e, in 2, 3, 3, 5, 7, 8 - the mode is 3).

  10. average of a set of numbers
