What is a memoir and how would i write it?

i have to do a memoir for english and I'm not sure how to do one, what would it be about and how would i even write one?

Write your autobiography and turn that in instead.

A written period of time of your life...

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE PERSON ABOVE ME. A memoir is NOT an autobiography. And autobiography is usually about your "life". A memoir is a short period of time. Think about memoirs of a Geisha or something.
