one large (usually concrete) rail that a train runs on, it is not very efficient as it takes more wheels to keep it going where it needs to.

Dont expect to see any more anytime soon, except as used in mag-lev.

In limited locations there will be mag-levs in the future, mostly in new applications as the cost is horrendous.
