  1. Hi,

I have a Monsoon system in my 2003 Jetta GLI. It is a really good system but does not play data CD MP3's. I can burn 18 audio songs & play them but not 100 MP3's on a cd (it does not seem to read them).

    Hope it helps...

  2. Monsoon is just a brand of upgraded stereo systems that some car manufacturers use as an upgrade to the regular factory stereos.  They're usually a little higher quality and sound better.  I know the Monsoons in VWs use a separate amplifier to provide more wattage to the speakers.  I actually thought the Monsoon systems in Jettas (the only one I've heard) sounded fairly decent.

Referring to it as "One of the best" is completely subjective.  Certainly there are better systems that you can get in cars these days, but there are PLENTY that sound worse.  It's definitely an upgrade from OEM stock stereos that come in a lot of vehicles.

I agree that the Monsoon system in the Jetta didn't play mp3 cds.
