  1. I would have to say handicap.  It really doesn't matter how far you hit a club since most people scores are reflected on how well they do from a 100 yards and in.  I've played with people who could barely hit their driver over a 200 yards on a good day but still had a handicap under 10.  Play with anyone who has a low handicap and I bet their short game is relatively good.

  2. It seems most of your questions are distance related.  You brag you can hit a driver 330 but your handicap is in the teens. I can hit 330 and I play to scratch.  Whats the big deal? Distance doesn't mean anything unless you can get the ball in the hole.

If you want to sound like a dope ask them how far can they hit their clubs.

If you want to sound like a player ask them how far their shots fly per club.

  3. "What is your handicap"

  4. Lob Wedge 80 Yards

    Sand Wedge 90 Yards

    Pitching Wedge 110 Yards

    9 Iron - 125 Yards

    8 Iron - 135 Yards

    7 Iron - 145 Yards

    6 Iron - 155 Yards

    5 Iron - 170 Yards

    4 Iron - 180 Yards

    3 Iron - 190 Yards

    1 Iron - 210 Yards

    3 wood - 225 Yards

    Driver - 260 Yards

  5. you can take 3 clubs all 7 irons there will be 12 yards difernce due to companys being distance related to build egos . the further the ball flies the harder the short irons become . pitching wedges should be 51 degrees some companies have them at 45 to 46 defree loft . seen wedges longer shaft  than my 8 iron . no0body cares about 150 yard wedges . they care about the control . shorten your swing hit your wedge 115 . thats all you want .

  6. I don't normally ask, i wait and see them address the ball, and there club selection,  this is normally a good indicator of how good a player is, or what he/she plays too.

Etc: if someone opted for a four iron on a par 4, I'd know that they'd played before,

if someone took a driver out for a par 3, 125 yard shot, then i would also know what i was up against.

But in general, here in the UK, we'd say, "what do you play off" IE, Handicap.

  7. That depends on trajectory.  Obviously somebody that hits the ball high would need to know where the ball lands (especially on the green).  A golfer with a lower ball flight probably hits more shot that run onto the green and therefore would need to know exactly how far they hit them.

  8. what is your handicap or average amount over par

  9. What do you shoot? or What is your hanicap?

  10. ixnaytim ,

The most important question is, "what do you shoot?"

Who cares how far your ball flies if you shoot 120??

    Peace in the East!
