  1. MS-68 stands for Mint State 68. Coins that show no signs of being circulated are graded on a scale of 60 thru 70 with 70 being the high end of the scale.

    For more information on grading coins may I suggest you get a copy of the Red Book from a bookstore or from a library.


  2. BD in NM is right here. I will add that MS-68 is a common grade for a modern coin that one gets in mint sets or even some new coins from the bank. An older coin say before 1990 that is MS-68 is scarcer. Grading is some ones opinion and they differ from person to person and grade book to grade book. To lean to grade get the ANA grading guide as a starter on just grading, but for info on U.S. coins and a quick grade guide the Red Book-A Guide to U.S. Coins is a good start.
