  1. A small stringed instrument of the harp family, popularized by the Satyrs

  2. A music lyre is the small metal piece that connects your music to your instrument. They are only for instruments in the horn line, that basically means if you blow in your instrument you need one since it is required, and if you're in the percussion section or drumline you dont.

  3. A music lyre is a clip that holds your marching music.  It usually attaches to the instrument.  They are inexpensive. Tell the local music store what instrument you play and they should have or can get you one.

They are called a Lyre because they look like the old Lyre which was a simple harp.

  4. it is an attachment that holds your flip folder of music to your instrument. i strongly urge you to take your instrument with you to the music store when you buy one, there are many different kinds that while being "correct" for your instrument, just may not fit. so having your instrument there means you can check to make sure it fits.

(also, regrettably, there are alot of people working in music stores that really dont know their elbow from their left foot when in comes to lyres).
