What is a natural way to keep ants away, and/or kill them?

I've lived in my current house for about a year, and I've never had problems with ants.

All of a sudden, I find my bed crawling with them. I don't leave food around, nothing sweet at all. And I occasionally keep my windows open like I always have.

They seem to only be in my bed and no where else around my home. I have animals so I'd like to use something natural to kill them.

Any ideas?

Buy some amdros, you can buy it at Home Depot or Lowes. Put about a teaspoon of it out where they can get it and when they take it back to the nest it will kill the nest along with the queen.

Mix some honey and borax and leave it where they can get to it (but keep it away from the furbabies).  They'll take it back to their colony and it will kill them all.

ETA:  I've also heard that if you put peppermint essential oil on all door and window jambs, this keeps ants away.  And if you put fresh mint leaves in cupboards.  Personally, I'm trying to kill them because there are TONS of them, and I can't seem to even cut down the number.  So, even though keeping them away is great, they always come back full force after awhile.  Good luck!
