What is a natwest bank card reader for?

i know its to do with online banking but what does it do?

  1. Not sure about the Natwest one, but with my Barclays one you put the card in the slot, type in your pin and it displays a 7 digit number which you they type on the computer.  It is safer than before as it proves you have the card and know the pin.
