  1. Neurons (also known as neurones and nerve cells) are electrically excitable cells in the nervous system that process and transmit information. Neurons are the core components of the brain, the vertebrate spinal cord, the invertebrate ventral nerve cord, and the peripheral nerves.

  2. A nervous system cell.

  3. Neuron is a nerve cell that cosist a cell body, axon and dendrites that transmit nerve impulses around your body.

You can consider it as the fundamental functional unit of the nervous system

  4. it's a BRAIN Cell.

  5. the nerve cell.

  6. Neurones are nerve cells. They have three component parts, dendrites pick up electrical impulses and send them to the cell body which contains the nucleus and axons carry the impulse away from the cellbody and pass the impulse on to the next neurone or muscle.

    Three types of neurone:

Sensory neurones pick up stimulus in the sensory organs eg light for eyes, sound for ears, pain, pressure or temperature from the skin.

The impulse generated travels via a sensory neurone to the Central Nervous System.

Association neurones transmit impulses within the CNS.

Motor Neurones carry imulses from the CNS to muscles or glands to carry out an appropriate response to the stimulus.

eg muscles contract to move a limb away from sharp/hot object and glands react by releasing appropriate hormones.

    Hope this helps!

  7. It's a cell in your body that conducts impulses that has an axon and dendrites

    (Sends messages to the brain)

  8. It is a nerve cell that sends and receives electrical signals over long distances within the body. A neuron may send electrical output signals to muscle neurons (called motor neurons or motoneurons) and to other neurons. A neuron may receive electrical input signals from sensory cells (called sensory neurons) and from other neurons. A neuron that simply signals another neuron is called an interneuron.
