  4. Well, my younger son survived the boot camp training. He said it wasn't that bad to go through.

  5. I was in Navy boot camp, but they are all pretty similar.  Marines and Army do a lot more strenuous physical activity, while the Navy and Air Force pays a lot more attention to "attention to detail".  In other words, you have to run a lot further and carry a lot more weight in the Army/Marines, but in the Navy/Air Force you'll have more classes and they pay more attention to your uniform and your being "squared away".

Most days though, you'll be up at dawn, 4:30 or so in the a.m.  You get 3 square meals a day at the mess hall, but you'll only get about 10 minutes to eat it, and the rest of the time you're marching, doing push-ups and other exercises, running, taking classes on general military stuff, shining your shoes, folding your clothes, cleaning the barracks, getting ready for inspections, etc.  Just a bunch of b.s.  Most of the time they are trying to break you.  You always seem to have to be in a hurry to get somewhere, only to have to wait when you get there.  They mess with your head, make you do push-ups and other exercises when you s***w up, talk about your momma... anything they can to try and break your spirit.

If you just keep in mind that it's all just a game, maintain a low profile and do what they say without question, it's no big deal.  And you'll be in great shape when you get out.
