  1. I don't think you understand flap retraction. If you're refering to V2 I assume you've lost an engine or why would you be flying at V2 + 10? But if that's what you mean then the answer is that you maintain V2 while retracting the gear and NO OTHER CONFIGURATION CHANGES, until 400 feet or obsticals clear which ever is higher then accelerate while retracting the flaps and accelerating to Vfs and continue to climb to 1500 feet at Vfs, final segment climb speed. Now you can do what you need to to clean things up and land. Why you'd want to accelerate to 250 kts is beyond me.


  2. Depends on the plane, the company policy, and the conditions.

    One B727 profile has V2 + 10kt to 3000' Above Airport Elevation before accelerating and raising flaps.

  3. it depends if the airport has noise abatement procedures or not. if they do then there are 2 procedures:

    1. you will have to accelerate at 3000ft or

    2. you can accelerate at 1000ft but only to flaps up speed until 3000ft and thereafter accelerate to 250kts.

    If no nose abatement is required then accelerating at 1000ft to 250kts is the norm.

  4. At the one airline I worked for, we cleaned the flaps up at 1000ft AGL (above ground level).  There is no specific requirment that you would see based on airport (other than potentially MSA- Minimum Safe Altitude).  Where I work currently, we keep the departure flap configuration until the end of 2nd segment climb (for most airports we use we look at TPA... traffic pattern altitude... or 1500ft AGL.)  For airports where terrain is an issue, we look at MSA as the end of our 2nd segment climb and keep the departure flap setting until there.
