  1. around 70 pounds.

  2. I don't know if it's overweight- but a BMI isn't a good way to work it out for your daughter especailly as she's probably going through puberty, growing lots etc. etc. I'd say 8 stone 5 pounds and I think that's about 120 pounds. I think it depends on build though- my middle daughter is very touchy about her weight because my oldest daughter is so skinny even though she eats a tonne or two every day.

  3. I am 18 years old and I have been 5'5 since I was about 12 or 13.  I hit puberty at 11 and I gain a lot of weight and grew really fast.  I went from about 80 lbs and 4'10 at 10 years old to 132 lbs and 5'5 at 12 years old!  That's a gain of 52 lbs and a growth of 7 inches in 2 years!  When I was 13 I think I weighed about 135ish.  I was about average.  Then once I hit 15 I all of a sudden just lost it all and went down to 120!  I looked good but on the thin side.  I am very pear shaped- 34A b*****s and small stomach but I have hips, butt, and thighs.  Then I got pregnant at 17 and had my son at 18 about 8 months ago.  I gained 44 lbs during my pregnancy and I am now at 135 again!  I hope to get back down to 120 someday, but I'm not too worried about it.

  4. Do a search on BMI (Body Mass Index) it tells you the average weight to height ratio.

  5. I would say that 158 is a little heavy but not so much.  I would think a healthy range would be 125-145 and I am not looking at the BMI, I don't feel that it is very accurate.  At her age I weighed 140lbs.  Do you have difficulty getting her fitted?  Another thing is that when girls are going through puberty they haven't lost that baby fat yet, and this could be true for her.  When I was 9 I weighed 125 and looked round.  I started my period early at 9 so by 13 I had dropped the kid look.  I felt for most girls 5th, 6th, and 7th grade were the most awkward.

I would encourage her to be more active, go for walks with her, and try to have healthier snacks on hand.  I wouldn't go hard core with only yogurt, and celery sticks or anything.

I think it is normal that all girls worry about her weight.  I think it takes a couple of years post period to go from looking like a big kid to a curvy teen.  The tweens, in between both and I think she is in the process of transitioning and I wouldn't worry.  The scale is only one part of the picture

  6. I remember when I was 13 I weighed 124 lbs. and I am 5'7. I wasn't too thin or anything either. I remember so well because it was my weight when I had to do a physical for school sports. and all the girls were comparing their weight. I was actually at the lower end some of the girls were about 135. So I would say about 120 lbs.  I'm 24 now so that has been some time ago. I know girls today want to weight extremely less.

add: 158 isn't "fat" ---I would still try to get it around 140 though so her weight doesn't become a problem in the future. It can creep up fast on you, and for most people it is pretty challenging to get off.

  7. probably around 105 pounds
