  1. A notice is generally a written (never verbal, if you're smart) agreement that is provided by either the landlord to the tenant or vice versa.  Most leases require a 30 or 60 day notice prior to the actual date when you intend to leave the premises, whether it is an apartment home or house.  Just about everything you need to know about what is expected of you should be in your lease provided at the move-in.  Always request a copy of all paperwork at the beginning of your lease and if there is anything you don't understand, tell the landlord/property manager that you would like an explanation.  You have rights as a tenant....get to know them well or there could be problems for you in the future.
