  1. A notarized letter or document is certified by a notary public — a licensed public officer who serves as an impartial witness to the signing of documents and establishes the authenticity of the signatures. A notary's signature and seal is required to authenticate the signature on your letter or legal document.

To verify your identity, the notary will ask you to present a current identifying document with a photograph, physical description and a signature, such as a driver's license, military ID or passport. Please do not sign the document in advance; signatures must be witnessed by the notary.

Go to your town office or town clerk, they will have a notary that can notarize it for you, for a small fee.

  2. Based on what you're looking for here, bringing a friend across the border, make sure the friend has a passport first, now required to cross.

Then have the friend's parents draft a letter allowing their child to travel with your parents, and giving permission for them to sign for any needed medical treatment.  Have them sign it in front of a Notary Public who will put their seal on it assuring that it is their signature, and you'll be good to go.

  3. You don't - its a document which needs to be witnessed by  Notary.

  4. it depends on what it is for. if it is a letter about something you have to write out, you do that, then take it to your local public court house and have a notary republic watch you sign and date it, then they will stamp it and fill in their information stating that they watched you and verified who you are by looking at your drivers license or ID. if you have a paper to be notarized , you would just fill it out , then go and let them watch you sign. some people charge a small fee and some dont. if you have to write one out, it would be about whatever  information that they are needing from you. depends on what its about. hope that helps!

  5. a notorized letter simply means you have a person witness the signing of the letter.  you can use a lawyer or a certified notery.
