  4. Don't know if it is nationally known as such, but almost everyone in this neck of the woods would call this type of paving 'Flagged Paving', so a paving block is a 'flag'

  5. ball? This comes from the old cobble stones used in seaports. The paving stones were originally ballast for the ships that were removed to make way for cargo (ballast helps keep the ship stable when there is no cargo). The stones were then used to pave streets, sidewalks, driveways, etc. "Ball" is just a short term for ballast.
