What is a pell grant and a state university grant?

School starting in a few weeks and I just received my financial aid letter which says that I have a pell grant and a state university grant. can anyone tell me what the difference is and which to take aas the offer?

  1. I've recieved the same two grants and I did a little research. The two are very similar in how you can use them. The main difference is the pell grant is federally funded, and the su grant is a state program. You can accept both, as neither will exclude you from the other. The only other possible difference is the dispersement schedule, you can ask the financial aid office about that.


  2. The pell grant is a federally funded grant, while the state university grant is funded by the state that you reside in.  I found that http://www.PellGrantOnline.com was the best source of Pell Grant information.
