  1. irelands not part of the uk, so thers that for ya.

    "land of a thousand welcomes" take that and take a hike, how annoying would it be to have to live in a place where their all smiles all the time. no place is like that

Wow, for the "land of a thousand welcomes" some of the Irish on here seem pretty snotty!  From the other responses, apparently there isn't another word for "pickle" in Ireland.  In America we sometimes call them gherkins or pickled cucumbers.  I looked up the word "pickle" on the net and see that "gherkin" is sometimes used in the U.K. too.
