What is a plot comparison?

I have an essay to write for my summer reading comparing the plots of Cry the Beloved Country and 1984 except i don't understand what i am supposed to compare between the two. Help would be greatly appreciated.

In other words, it's what mostly happened in the story or novel or what the story's general theme is based on, such as the mood, characters, setting, and conflicts occurring in a story.

    what you are asked is to compare how each novel is structures, in chapters, books, what they are about, how each story is told, any common themes...
