  1. California is #1 in dairy production, but you can't use that without saying cow. They are among the top states in poultry production. Maybe you could give that a try.

  2. County fair seasonis almost here, that will be a good source for you to look at.  You can look in a phone book under agriculture or farms and see who is in your area, maybe they will talk to you.

Is there a Universiyt near where you live? they p[robably have classes in agriculture you can call and talk to someone and maybe see a real animal up close.

Calif. has several regions with some specifically known products. Turlock is known for Turkeys, we have a large area covered by Foster Farms and the famous chickens.

The UC Extension service for farmers might be a good place to google up and look around in if you need more ideas.

When you wrote about cows, did you write about dairy or beef? while some dairy cows get retired to golden corral, the general processes are a bit different.

We also have a fairly large sheep industry in Ca. as well as goats for dairy and meat.  There are still some Emu and Osterich ranches out there, and then you have the people who are raising animals for fibers, Angora goats or rabbits, special breeds of sheep just for wool, Llamas and Alpacas.

Once you get to the ocean you have Abalone ranches, ocean fish farming, as well as clams and oysters. Fresh water fish and crayfish farms.

There are lots of animals, and this is a big big state. Open a book, or your eyes and look around you.

  3. You name it.  California (particularly the San Joaquin Valley) is superior in agriculture.  Everything from swine, poultry, dairy (cattle and goat), etc.  There's even a budding aquaculture industry.
