  1. "Posi" is short for positive-traction, or more correctly a limited slip differential.

In a standard "open" differential the tire with the least traction receives the most power, which allows cars to go around corners without scrubbing the tires.

A "posi", limited slip differential allows the same operation around corners, but has a torque rating where it will keep both tires going the same speed until the power output exceeds the torque rating of the limited slip.

This can help keep both tires spinning in conditions like snow or gravel, but allows the car to go around a corner without scrubbing the tires, chirping the tires or excessivly understeering.  As well on performance driving it can help to not spin the inside tire on accelerating out of a corner, or to induce oversteer (i.e. drifting).
