A program is something that a computer does. Like if you have monopoly on your computer that would be a program within a computer.

The answers above are perfectly correct, but just to chime in, think of a program as a recipe.  The recipe tells you (the computer) how to manipulate input data (ingredients) and appliances (peripherals)  to produce output (the finished meal).
