  1. To qualify for financial aid, income and outgo are taken into consideration.   The tax assessment shows how much property tax is payed.  Also gives a picture of applicant's assets.


  2. Property tax is assessed by the City or County Tax Assessor-Collector and is a tax based on the value of your real estate and other taxable property.  There can be a property tax on your home, your car, your jewelry and on intangible assets, but many jurisdictions do not tax cars, jewelry or farm animals.  

    Pre-civil war tax assessments included taxes on the value of your  slaves which were considered taxable property.
