  1. It is a place that's number one goal it to breed puppies as fast and as many as possible in as little amount of time as possible. They don't take good care of the animals and sometimes don't even give them good vet care. Their only concern is Profit. You need to get puppies from a humane society tor a rescue group that has rescued animals and made sure they got good vet care, that they are now healthy, and are spayed or neutered, and that they have a good temperment and would make a good pet.

  2. sadly, puppy mills are inhumane, commercial businesses where dogs are literally bred to death.  see below for more information.

  3. Puppy mills (also known as puppy farms outside of the United States) are large-scale dog breeding facilities that operate under substandard breeding conditions, causing the development of chronic health problems, temperament issues, and hereditary defects in puppies that come from the mills

The term can be applied to operations involving other animals irresponsibly bred for profit, e.g. "kitty mills Animals that have been produced in mills are most commonly sold at pet stores to unsuspecting consumers

Irresponsible breeding on a smaller scale is referred to as backyard breeding.

Puppy mills are nothing new. These mass dog-breeding operations have been around for decades. They continue to thrive because they prey on unwitting consumers who are smitten by too-cute-for-words puppies in pet store windows and on fancy websites.

But behind the friendly facade of the local pet shop, the pastoral scenes on a "breeder's" website, or the neighborhood newspaper ad, there often lies a puppy mill. These canine breeding facilities house dogs in shockingly poor conditions.

Life is particularly bad for "breeding stock," dogs who live their entire lives in cages and are continually bred for years, without human companionship and with little hope of ever becoming part of a family. These dogs receive little or no veterinary care and never see a bed, a treat or a toy. After their fertility wanes, breeding animals are commonly killed, abandoned or sold to another mill. The annual result of all this breeding is hundreds of thousands of puppies, many with behavior and/or health problems

go to this site to find out more and see horrible images and videos-

  4. Puppy mills are places where breeders produce puppies and don't care where they end up as long as they make money. Usually the puppies are kept in horrible conditions and then, before they are sold, are fed and groomed to look presentable to the public. The adult dogs are generally malnourished, sickly, and the females are continuously bred until they collapse. Further, the puppies will usually end up with costly health problems because the dogs are not tested before breeding.

  5. There is also the problem of inbreeding and disease. I recomment local animal shelters/rescues. Save a life, gain a friend.

  6. Puppy mills are where they keep thousands of dogs of all kinds locked up in cages for their whole lives just to let them breed. They are treated very cruelly and their cages are very filthy. They don't get the veterinary check ups that they need. The reason why you shouldn't get a dog from a puppy mill is because if you buy it from there, you're basically supporting them and keep them running. Also when you buy them they're either sick or really skinny.

  7. A puppy mill is a "facility" whose main interest is the mass production of dogs. These dogs that are born at the mills are sold to pet shops and usually have health issues due to horrible living conditions, malnourishment, inbreeding, along with other reasons. Females are kept for only a few litters, and then are disposed of in inhumane ways. People who run puppy mills also frequently debark the dogs there by ramming a metal rod down their throats to rupture the vocal chords. A few great sites are listed below.

  8. Ever wonder where that cute puppy in the pet store window comes from? A puppy mill most likely.

    NO PUPPY MILLS!!!

Have you ever been kept in a cage with barley enough room to sit or lie down properly. Cages Hadley ever cleaned, food scarce, no attention ever, your only use in life is to breed. Sad, and illegal.

  9. Its a place that breeds a large quantity of dogs for profit.

They have no regard to health or temperment..  they dont even care if they are breeding purebreds, mixes, or inbred dogs.

They are often filthy places.. they keep dogs crammed in tiny cages with wire bottoms..  cages may be stacked ontop of each other, so when the dogs on the top urinate and p**p, it falls down onto the dogs underneath.

Many of these dogs are matted, have tumors, injuries, illnesses, etc.  They have never been outside of their cage, and many dont know how to walk on solid floors, much less on grass!

They are bred continually every heat cycle until they are unable to produce puppies.

They are horrible places.. as long as you buy puppies from petshops and order online, they will continue to operate and mis-treat dogs.

Go to youtube and search for the Oprah episodes on puppy mills..  its very explanative and gives you a visual of what a puppy mill is.

  10. The people that run a puppy mill breed for the money, with no regard for the health, well being, temperament, bloodlines, etc. of the puppies.  A lot of puppy mills have dirty, unsanitary living areas for their dogs.  They are sometimes kept in small kennels and the females are bred over and over again.  A high percentage of the puppies that come from puppy mills are unhealthy and/or ill.

  11. A puppy mill is where dogs are breed strictly for profit. The dogs are not well taken care of, live there entire lives in small cages, do not get any human contact, are often very sick and when you buy puppies from them they often grow up to be not healthy dogs and many have behavior problems. Buying a puppy mill dog you never know what you are going to get, they are often inbreed and can have really serious repercussions. Most dogs that you can buy in a pet store are puppy mill dogs.

  12. Google image puppy mills, you will be horrified.

Puppy mills are places where they keep dogs in cages for their whole lives and constantly over breed them.  They usually sell their dogs to pet stores.  Puppy mills are cruel and people need to become more aware of how sick they are.
