What is a quince?

Question

my boyfriend is cuban and next year he is having a quince so what is it and what do they do their(i know it's a celebration of them turning 15)

and how does a quince differ from a quinceanera?

It's the male version of the 'sweet 16' coming out party for girls that is called a quincinera.  A quince also happens to be a pearl-like fruit that grows on a bush, is hard as a rock, and you have to rub all the  fuzz off ot before you can eat it.  Hey, what can i say? I was a double-english major..

It's just like a sweet 16...

in spanish the word for the number 15 is quince

quinceanera is for a girl...notice the "a" on the end...most words that describe something in spanish ending in an "a" represents that it is feminine, same thing for an "o" it indicates that it is masculine...like nin[a] and nin[o]..

quince -its the # 15

quinceanera-is the girl turning 15

and like the answer before me...it's like a sweet 16, except at 15 there are lots of traditions too, you should ask your boyfriend to explain it all to you
