The word jinn in Arabic refers to something that is concealed and hidden. They are concealed from people's sight.

Jinn are creation from God. The jinn form a world other than that of the world of mankind and the world of angels. They have some things in common with mankind in the sense that they are described as possessing reason and understanding, and therefore the ability to choose between good and bad. They are unlike mankind in some other ways. the most important of which is that the origin of the jinn is different from man.  

God says in the Quran that the Jinn are created from a smokeless flame of fire.

Now I'm guessing what you were watching was someone supposedly 'taking a jinn or Shaytan (devil) out of the lady' I don't know to much about it... lol nor have i heard to much about it.. but I guess its exorcism in a way? But I've never heard of any Islamic Doctrine/belief/anything that supports/encourages it or says what was probably being done is real... Hit me up if you find anything that does though.
